….the winter is past, the rain is over and gone; the flowers appear on the earth; the time of the singing of birds has come… Song of Solomon 2:11-12
The days are getting longer, flowers and trees are starting to bloom and spring cleaning continues!
We’ve added a couple new little additions to our family recently:
Meet Cadbury and Peanut! They are sweet, funny and lively….it’s so fun to watch their antics.
I’ve also done a little “spring cleaning” here on my blog. I have updated my introduction column (About Me) and will be adding a whole new element to this site in the near future! I’m excited to add FITNESS topics to this food and faith blog! I keep a favorite motivational quote on my phone from Rick Warren that says, “God created it. Jesus died for it. The spirit lives in it. I’d better take care of it!” Stay tuned for fun fitness posts!
On a personal note, I’ve recently accepted a position on a catering team for a local market that specializes in flavorful and fresh Appalachian fare! The busy season is approaching quickly and I’m looking forward to the graduation parties, weddings and special summer events!
Have you seen this new magazine yet?!?!
It’s a great magazine full of tips, fun articles and of course, yummy recipes! I tore out several pages to keep and sent in my subscription request once I enjoyed it from cover to cover.
My favorite quote by Ree in this first issue:
“Of all the lessons I’ve learned, here’s the biggest takeaway: anyone can be a pioneer woman. It’s a state of mind, a belief system, a way of life. We gals can pursue a career, raise a family, follow our passions and smile while we’re doing it! We can adapt and change directions if that’s where life takes us. And we can positively impact the world around us, in both large and tiny ways.”
We have a favorite homemade ranch dressing, that I previously shared on my blog, and it doesn’t even compare to store bought dressing! This week I made a salad with dinner and decided to make a vinaigrette, something lighter than the ranch. We were at a friend’s house for dinner one day and she made this simple but delicious salad dressing. Later, she gave me a little card with the handwritten recipe on it and we still use it all the time!
1/4 cup sugar, 1/4 cup vinegar
1/2 cup oil (we use canola)
2 tsp garlic salt (to taste)
Mix and shake.
That’s it! So easy and delicious!
I’m organizing material this evening to begin a new Bible study next week with Lacey. It’s the perfect time of year to reflect on gratitude and thanksgiving as we enter the holiday season. I’ll share more information about this study later.
I am thankful for my friends, family and fellow bloggers that are visiting this site and offering feedback. My stats are showing a lot of traffic/details and I’m excited! It’s so much fun to share recipes with other people that enjoy cooking. It doesn’t have to be boring or a daily chore. Why not be creative, have fun, experiment and really love the food you make? Why not try our best to serve our family delicious and healthy meals?
I’m thankful for those that are sending me tips and offering advice! We all need help and encouragement if we want to learn and do our best, right? Let’s keep building each other up, sharing our passion and enjoying life!
