Homemade BBQ sauce

This is the absolute BEST BBQ sauce recipe!  I have tried it once before and 2 times recently.  It goes great with boneless pork ribs and boneless skinless chicken breasts.  I’m sure it would work well with beef too…maybe hamburgers with coleslaw.

I ran out of molasses so I substituted pure maple syrup.  Also, the recipe calls for 4 T minced chipotle peppers in adobo sauce which is ALOT of heat!  I usually read the reviews when trying new recipes and I’m so glad that I did with this one.  1-2 T is good enough, lots of flavor and a little heat.

Homemade Vinaigrette

We have a favorite homemade ranch dressing, that I previously shared on my blog, and it doesn’t even compare to store bought dressing!  This week I made a salad with dinner and decided to make a vinaigrette, something lighter than the ranch.  We were at a friend’s house for dinner one day and she made this simple but delicious salad dressing.  Later, she gave me a little card with the handwritten recipe on it and we still use it all the time!

1/4 cup sugar, 1/4 cup vinegar

1/2 cup oil (we use canola)

2 tsp garlic salt (to taste)

Mix and shake.

That’s it!  So easy and delicious!

Outback!

If you have been to the Outback restaurant then you know about their great spicy ranch dressing!  A long time ago we searched the Internet for a similar recipe and found a good one!  This is pretty close to the restaurant recipe and we like to use it on chicken or steak salads.  It’s only 6 ingredients and takes just a couple minutes to make.

1 tsp Hidden Valley Ranch-buttermilk-envelope pouch

1 C Mayo

1/2 C Buttermilk

1/4 tsp Black Pepper

1/8 tsp Cayenne Red Pepper

1/8 tsp Garlic Powder

Mix and Refrigerate.

Makes 1 1/2 Cups
