Pastrami deli wraps

Quick and delicious lunch!  And surprisingly, it’s kid friendly!  The flavors and veggie crunch are just perfect together.  I took a shortcut and used a veggie cream cheese spread instead of using a food processor.

pb roll ups

I love the little books that Kroger sends out in the mail once in awhile with coupons and recipes.  This is my new favorite snack idea..

It’s one of those snacks that makes you say, “why didn’t I think of that?!”  It’s so simple, just spread peanut butter on a tortilla and top with thinly sliced strawberries.  Nutella is a good substitute if you don’t like pb.  The girls had them for lunch one day and loved it!

Time Warp Wife

Let me introduce you to Darlene Schacht, my new favorite Christian author! She is a NY Times best-selling author from Canada whose “number one priority is to serve Jesus Christ in every area of her life.”

FB page~ Time-Warp Wife

She provides daily marriage prayers on her fb page that I think you will really like!

She is offering a new free Bible study beginning on Aug 8- Sept 3. It is a four week study on the book of Philippians and the topic is JOY! On Aug 1st you can download the study guide online. She also provides free printable resources each week during the study.

There is an optional Bible study/journal available on Amazon for $9.58 and you can view sample pages on her website. I ordered my copy today and can’t wait to check it out!

A few months ago I worked through her study titled “A Virtuous Life” and used this great additional resource~

This study covered the following cardinal virtues:

Prudence- alert, cautious, wise

Temperance- self control, moderation

Justice- fair, honesty and integrity

Fortitude- strength, courage

I highly recommend her online Bible studies and I’m anxious to begin the new one in a couple weeks!

Here are a few other items that I have ordered recently:

I was very happy with the Joyful Expressions coloring book that was a gift for someone.

I ordered The Good Wife’s Guide awhile back but haven’t read it yet…stay tuned!

breakfast for dinner

aka Mom is tired and doesn’t feel like cooking much tonight! lol  We usually have a quick grab and go, make ahead breakfast on most days so it’s actually kinda nice to make breakfast for dinner once in awhile.

The following two recipes are great served together, kid friendly and not too time consuming.  I have made the fruit salad several times but the apple crescents are a new favorite recipe from Taste of Home!

Orange creamsicle cake

I have seen this recipe floating around the internet lately and decided to try it the other day.  Lacey had a couple friends here so they helped in the kitchen which is always fun!  They made the inside purple marble which looked really cool.

I was really hoping this dessert would taste like yummy creamsicle pops but it doesn’t.  I used orange zest, orange juice, orange soda and it still wasn’t a real strong orange flavor.  A couple more girls showed up for our summer Bible study then we all went over to the barn for awhile as the dessert cooled.  It was still a little warm when we tried it later and it was just okay.  We actually liked it better the next day after it was refrigerated and served cold.  I probably won’t make it again.   Please let me know if you try it and have different results.

BBQ chicken pasta bake

What’s not to love about this new recipe I tried this week?!  It’s got pasta, chicken, tomatoes, corn, BBQ sauce, ranch, red onions…..Delicious dinner the other night and yummy leftovers today for lunch!  The combination of BBQ sauce and ranch remind me of the wildfire sauce at Bob Evans.  I will warn you though that 3/3 kids that had dinner with us did not like it.  This recipe makes a large 9×13 dish so there are plenty of leftovers or enough to share with others.
